Adam Matthew Urbanek

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Adam — a beloved son, father, partner, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, and dedicated coworker.

Adam lived with a vibrant, creative spirit. He found freedom and joy on the open road, peace in the quiet beauty of nature and animals, and joy in the rhythm of music that seemed to freely flow through him. Animated, generous, and deeply kind-hearted- the kind of person who left a lasting impression on everyone who crossed his path — and was loved by more people than he ever truly knew.

His absence leaves an immeasurable void, and he will be missed beyond words.

Adam leaves behind his father, Wolfgang “Charley” Urbanek (predeceased by his mother, Ruth Urbanek), his cherished daughter, Jaden Fraser — whom he loved deeply and carried always in his heart — and his other half, Jodi Agnew, who held a special and unwavering place in his life as well as her whole family who adored him.

He will be dearly missed by his grandmother, Lotte Urbanek (predeceased by his grandfather, Helmut Urbanek), and deeply mourned by his brother, Clinton Urbanek, and sister-in-law, Isabelle Urbanek. To his niece and nephew, he was “Onky Adam” , a playful and unforgettable presence in their lives,— Leandra Urbanek and her partner Travis Sanford, and Dawson Urbanek and his partner Tegan Vanderhoek.

He is also deeply mourned by his aunt Rosita Keetch and her partner Cecil Frank, and his aunt Doreen Jerssa and her husband Ed Jersa. He will be fondly remembered by his cousins, Amber Wessel and her husband Steve Wessel & children, and Michelle Keetch Blair and her husband Phil Blair, along with extended family whose lives he touched in countless ways.

We also remember his loyal companion, Sass, his beloved cat.

Adam’s passing is felt deeply by his coworkers, friends, and the many people he met along his journey — each holding onto their own memory of his warmth, his energy, and his unmistakable presence. Though his life was cut far too short, the love he gave and the connections he made will continue to live on. May we honour him by carrying forward his generosity, his spirit, and his appreciation for life’s simple, beautiful moments.

Forever missed, forever remembered.
