Nancy Axani

Nancy Diane (Farrish) Axani of Mulmur passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, on Monday, September 29, 2025, in her 75th year. Wife of Ernie Axani. Mother of Shaun Axani of Seattle, Jordan Axani & Megan Rafuse of Hamilton. Grandmother of Miller & Maeve Axani of Hamilton. Sister of Connie & Murray Fischer of Campbellford, Debbie & Tom Gibson of Listowel, Barbara & Larry Cowan of Mount Forest, Robert & Susan Farrish of Listowel, and Lorrie & Keith Reibeling of Milverton. Predeceased by her parents Robert & Eva (Sproule) Farrish. Born in Listowel as the second eldest of the Farrish children, Nancy began her life in the apartment above Parkview Gardens, a landmark her father contributed to building. From a young age, she was her father’s best little helper and showed a natural talent for the arts and literature. Growing up in a lively household of six, Nancy formed a lifelong closeness with her siblings that brought lots of joy and laughter. Nancy met Ernie at an Oktoberfest event in Kitchener, and their love grew quickly — by their fourth date, they were moving to Edmonton together where they led active social lives and built the foundation of a 45-year marriage. After returning to Ontario years later, they began family life, welcoming their two sons, Shaun and Jordan. In 1993, the family moved to a chalet beside Mansfield Ski Hill — a home they loved and cherished as a welcoming place for family and friends. During those same years, Nancy and Ernie also spent many years establishing a business together, showing that a strong partnership could thrive in both work and life. Nancy was a devoted and hands-on mother, dedicating her time and energy to her children’s upbringing. She was always the first to volunteer for field trips, worked as a lunchroom supervisor, and could always be found behind the wheel shuttling the boys to countless extracurriculars. Even after they left home, she remained just a phone call away — a steady source of encouragement and a constant champion of all they pursued. In her later years, Nancy embraced travel, exploring Europe, Australia, and the Americas. She remained a voracious reader, never far from a good book, and loved nothing more than sharing a great meal and delighting in time spent with her grandchildren. Nancy’s warmth, quick wit, and integrity will be remembered fondly by everyone whose life she touched. A private family funeral service was held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Afterwards, everyone joined her family for a public Celebration of Nancy’s Life at Parkview Gardens (Listowel Legion) from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to the Royal Victoria Health Centre Foundation or a charity of personal choice.
