Mary Elizabeth Ernewein

Mary Elizabeth Ernewein (nee Spitzig) of Walkerton, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton, in her 77th year. Beloved wife of 55 years of John, mother to Melissa (Mike Armstrong) of Kitchener, and Kyle (Kimiko Perkins) of Toronto. Mary was the proud Grandma of Celeste, Bethany, Kiyomi, and Naia. She will be missed by her sisters Joan (Alf) Ernewein of Walkerton, Agnes (Mike) Hallahan of Greenock, Pauline (Steve) Cuneo of Cargill, and sister-in-law Linda Spitzig of Cambridge. Mary will be remembered by the Spitzig and Ernewein Families, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Predeceased by her siblings Pat Spitzig, Bernard Spitzig, Rita (Charles) Schaefer, Fran (Peter) Meinstra, Annabelle (Francis) Wilhelm, Barbara Ruetz, and her parents John and Gertrude Spitzig.

Mary was a kind and generous soul who had an impact on everyone who met her. She loved children, starting out by teaching primary school, and then dedicating her life to raising her children and doting on her granddaughters. Mary excelled at planning birthday parties, always having baked goods on hand, going on marathon shopping trips and documenting life through many, many videos and photographs. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends and spending her summers at the family cottage at Sauble Beach. Mary’s warm smile, her love of reading and her infectious fits of the giggles will be fond memories that we will cherish.

Friends and relatives were invited for visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021, at Cameron’s in Walkerton.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Sacred Heart Church, Walkerton. Fr. Leszek Szyzgiel officiating.

Cremation has taken place and a private family interment was held in Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Chepstow
