Things didn’t get any easier for the Milverton Four Wheel Drives last weekend, as the still winless senior club faced off against a pair of tough opponents on the Ontario Elite Hockey League (OEHL) circuit.

Following Listowel’s 4-2 victory over Caledon on Oct. 27, Cyclones head coach Jesse Cole agreed that his club’s home-and-home sweep over the last-place Bombers were two games they had to have.

Kyler Nixon scored three times and Brendon Landry stopped 46 shots in goal to lead the Durham Thundercats (1-0-0) to a 4-3 win over the Ripley Wolves (1-2-0) on Saturday night.

The Junior Capitals were able to snap a four-game losing skid with a decisive 3-0 win over the Wingham Ironmen on Oct. 21 at the Walkerton Community Centre.

The Walkerton Capitals U13 Rep C squad travelled to Bracebridge to take part in the Dan Bell and Kris Clement Tournament, Oct. 20-22, where they would come home as tournament champions. This year’s Run4Health in Walkerton has raised more than $26,200 for the Walkerton & District Hospital Foundation.

Sacred Heart High School hosted the Bluewater Athletics Association Girls 7s Rugby Championship on Thursday, Oct. 19. The event saw 16 games played over the course of the day in fast-paced, 14-minute games.

The visiting TCDMHA Rebels were no match for the U15 Wingham Rep squad on Oct. 21 at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex, with the Ironmen dominating their opponent in a 10-0 victory.

While the Wingham Ironmen have went through extended stretches of being unable to find sustained offensive results, the local junior club continues to accumulate points in the early goings of the 2023-24 PJHL Pollock Division campaign.

The Milverton Four Wheel Drives are still seeking their first win of the inaugural 2023-24 Ontario Elite Hockey League campaign, after dropping a 4-0 decision to the visiting Saugeen Shores Winterhawks on Oct. 21.
