Sixteen-year-old Sully Kipfer has been playing hockey for over a decade and recently received a call telling him he was drafted in the 15th round by the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Sarnia Sting.

LISTOWEL - The Kinette Club of Listowel hosted the final meeting of the year on June 16 and presented donations ‘to some very deserving organizations as we wrapped up another successful year of service.” Donations included a presentation to North Perth Pride.

The Council of the Township of Howick approved a renewal of its municipal insurance proposal with Intact Public Entities Inc. with an increase of 3.4 per cent over the previous term.

Youth Unlimited held its annual Tour for Teens cycling event on Saturday, June 13.

Community members from Listowel and surrounding areas had the unique opportunity to join the Salvation Army Canadian Staff Songsters (CSS), during the group’s June 6-7 appearance at Listowel’s Knox Presbyterian Church.

MILVERTON - Every year the township of Perth East recognizes those volunteers who help the township in many ways, with programs to ensure the viability and to keep residents enjoying the lifestyle they have come to appreciate.

Local shoemaker Sid Mansz stepped up to save the show more than once.  In 1955,  a touring performance of Macbeth was on the eve of arriving in Stratford and the Canadian Players reached out to Mansz for help.
