GORRIE – The annual TRI-umph Triathlon in Gorrie was held on Aug. 3, bringing dozens of families to the Howick Optimist Pool and splash pad site.

LISTOWEL – An annual program that has helped equip many young skaters and hockey players with free protective gear is returning for its 11th year this September.

HOWICK – Council here has approved up to $3,000 from the recreation reserve to repair a Kubota utility mower after it sustained significant mechanical damage during routine maintenance.

HOWICK – Howick council has authorized staff to spend up to $300,000 from the township’s fire reserve to purchase a used pumper-tanker after one of the fire department’s aging trucks failed its annual pump performance test and was removed from emergency firefighting service.

HOWICK – Howick Township will enter into an agreement with the Town of Hanover to provide specialized technical rescue services, with officials calling the partnership the most practical and cost-effective way to ensure residents have access to specialized emergency response capabilities.

HOWICK – Council here recently approved a proposal to divide a 100-acre farm into two 50-acre agricultural parcels, despite planning staff recommending the application be denied as it does not meet provincial, county and township planning policies.

HOWICK – Howick council has awarded a contract for improvements to municipal drain no. 20, approving a tender priced at $122,249 plus HST for work intended to upgrade the aging drainage system.

WINGHAM - The HCFL Wroxeter/Wingham Rippers went up against the Brussels Tigers in a double header in Wingham on June 28. The Rippers claimed an 12-0 win followed by a 20-0 win.
