Dorothy Annette (Sherk) Gimbel of Southampton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Grey Bruce Hospice, Owen Sound, on Monday, June 15, 2026, in her 89th year.
Dorothy will be dearly missed by her sons John (Diane) and James (Leona), her grandchildren Nick (Rachel), Mallory (Mark) and Matthew, her great-grandchildren Jaxson, Olivia, Easton and Brooke, and her ‘third’ son Steve (Laurie). Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Walter (Wally), her parents Norman and Nellie (Houser) Sherk, her stepfather Harold Trussler, her sister Grace, her brother Laverne, and Wally’s parents, stepmother and sister.
With heartfelt gratitude, we thank the staff, volunteers, and caregivers at Brightshores Hospital in Southampton and Owen Sound, Elgin Lodge, and Grey Bruce Hospice for their compassionate care during this difficult time.
A private family interment was held at Douglas Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Grey Bruce Hospice, Canadian Cancer Society or Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Rhody Family Funeral Home, Chesley.
