HOWICK - A community swap event will be happening at the community centre here from July 4 to 5.

WALKERTON - Brockton’s annual volunteer appreciation event, with awards presentations, was held this year at the Walkerton Community Centre. The event included a catered meal provided by the Best Western, with cupcakes by Barb Vyhnal. Andrew Strader provided musical entertainment.

The Golf Fore Saugeen Hospice event on June 17 at the Walkerton Golf and Curling Club drew golfers and volunteers from businesses, service clubs and the community at large, for what’s become one of the best fundraisers of the year

The Saugeen Hospice had their annual garage sale on June 13 at the Walkerton Agriculture Building.

WALKERTON - Two Grade 10 students from Walkerton’s Sacred Heart Highschool (SHHS) have put forward a $5,000 grant for the women’s shelter serving Grey-Bruce through the Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI), a classroom-based program aimed at teaching students about community issues and charity work.

NORTH PERTH - June 13 was Dave Carson’s Appreciation Day.  The event, which was open to all was held in the horse arena at Carson Farms and Auction near Listowel. Food, music and displays were all part of the afternoon.

ATWOOD - A group of talented dancers from the Sim School of Highland Dance in Embro, Ontario, will be heading overseas this July to compete in several Highland Games in Scotland, over the course of a three week span.

Long before the first Mitchell District High School yearbook appeared in the 1930s, the school’s Literary Society published a magazine called Chronicles from time to time. They did not include the photographs of graduates and school activities that usually appear in yearbooks.

LISTOWEL - Runners met up at Listowel District Secondary School for the Pride Fun Run on June 14 in Listowel and set out on a 5km run wearing their most colourful gear to celebrate Pride Month. 

F. E. Madill held its annual Tractor Day event on Friday, June 13 in the student parking lot. The annual event celebrates the school’s rural roots and allows students to showcase their tractors.
