The Listowel Cyclones kicked off their 2023-24 GOJHL regular season in fine style on Sept. 16, playing host to alumni festivities as part of the organization’s 50 years of junior hockey in the community.

It’s a new season and a clean slate for the Walkerton Capitals, who opened up their 2023-24 PJHL campaign with a win and a loss last weekend.

The Huron County Slo-Pitch league held their year-end tournament in Belgrave this past weekend. The Wingham Smokies won the “A” Division this year for the first time in their 48-year history. The PJHL regular season is officially underway, with the Wingham Ironmen opening up their 2023-24 campaign with a win and a loss last weekend.

It was the Battle of Listowel on Sept. 6 at John Bell South, as the 15U WOBA1 and #2 squads faced off in playdown action. WOBA2 got the better of #1 on this particular night, coming away with a decisive 15-1 victory.

The incoming Listowel Cyclones leadership group boasts 15 years of combined junior hockey experience, and that will surely go a long way in helping to mentor the club’s younger players for the upcoming campaign.

The PJHL pre-season game between the Mitchell Hawks and Walkerton Capitals on Friday, Sept. 8 had home town fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle. Walkerton ended up losing in overtime.
