A pair of local softball players are carrying a bit of extra weight around their necks this week.

After a busy summer of roster moves, changes in hockey operations and finalizing the coaching staff, the Walkerton Capitals are a month away from dropping the puck on the PJHL Pollock Division season.

The Wingham baseball diamonds hosted a year-end ball tournament on Aug. 12 for local youth baseball teams to compete.

The Wingham Hitmen hosted the Brussels Bangers on Saturday afternoon in Huron County Fastball League action. The home team would swing their way to victory, shutting out the Bangers in a 6-0 win.

The Wingham Ironmen will open the 2023-24 PJHL Pollock Division season at home.

It doesn’t seem long ago that last year’s junior hockey season was just wrapping up, but the Listowel Cyclones are already back on the ice for training camp this week ahead of the 2023-24 GOJHL campaign.
