The Listowel Cyclones had an exciting start to their Thanksgiving weekend, hosting the Komoka Kings on Oct. 11 closing out the game with an impressive 7-0 win. 

Council here recently received a report from the asset management coordinator seeking approval regarding an application to the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure (CSRI) Grant Program.

The Wingham Ironmen were edged 2-1 in a Provincial Junior Hockey League action at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex on Saturday, Oct. 12.

The Walkerton Capitals hosted Fergus Oct. 11, and despite a goal by the opposition seconds into the game, the Caps claimed a 3-2 victory.

The Wingham Ironmen had a tough weekend of Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) action, dropping three games on the road.

The Listowel Cyclones successfully captured two wins over the weekend, maintaining their standings among the elite teams in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) this season.

In PJHL action, the Walkerton Capitals returned from a 4-3 shootout victory over Mitchell on Oct. 5, only to be defeated on home ice the next day by the Hanover Barons and by the same score.

The Listowel Cyclones hosted the Elmira Sugar Kings on Sept. 27 – giving the crowd a nail-biter of a game. 

Coming back from a three point deficit at the end of the first, the Listowel Cyclones sent the Kitchener Waterloo Siskins home one point shy of the win. 

The Listowel Legends U17 (Donaldson) Softball Team participated in their year-end tournament in Exeter on Sept. 14-15.

At its public meeting and delegations on Sept. 16, North Huron Council was presented a proposal for the liquor licensed area at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex for the Wingham Ironman of PJHL home games.

North Perth Mayor Todd Kasenberg called the 15U Listowel Legionnaires’ provincial championship win, “another great story of excellence in sport in our community.”
