By the time this paper goes to print, the most important election in Canada’s history will be over.

A news story described a scene that could have happened at no other time in history, in no other culture. A young teenaged girl was assaulted by two other girls in a park, while bystanders hauled out their cell phones to record the incident.

Numerous heads of council in this region are poised to receive “strong mayor” powers under a proposal put forward last week by the provincial government.

Their tiny wings are just a-flapping, carrying them from the sunny south, where they traditionally winter, back to Canada – snowbirds, on their annual migration north.

As I read the news each morning, my heart sinks within me.  There is so much hurt in the world that it often feels overwhelming.

In confusing times, it is only human to look for a way to make sense of it all. Given the current political affairs of the present day, I bet many are looking for a distraction.

March came in like a lion, and left … if not like a lion, all fierce roars and fangs, then not…
