The Avon Maitland District School Board is standing behind other school boards talking legal action against social media companies for disrupting student learning and the education system. However the local board has not joined the legal battle.

Last week, North Perth council agreed to lease office space to what CAO Kris Snell called a “mobile mental health unit that will serve Huron, Perth, and part of Bruce County.”

For most Canadians, April is the time of year when frustration and anger over our convoluted, loophole-ridden tax system is at its highest.

Although council ultimately approved the requested road closures for three local events, there was a lengthy discussion about the proposed Character Run route. 

The Monkton and Listowel Lions are collaborating for an e-waste fundraiser on April 20 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at two locations. In Listowel, Trillium Mutual Insurance Company located at 495 Mitchell Rd. S, will be accepting e-waste, and Steve Smith Auto Sales Ltd. at 1 Maddison St. W in Monkton. 

Finally, the snow has stopped and melted. It is time to get the garden planted. I estimate that we have had our last frost.
