David and William Kennedy opened the door to their shanty, and confronted a plague of mice eating in the pantry, chewing through boxes of supplies, nesting in the bedding.
Foundation provides nearly $500K for equipment, projects at Wingham hospital
Thanks to the generosity of the community, the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation was able to support the purchase of $478,440 in equipment and facility upgrades from the Wingham and District Hospital. These funds represent the donations made in the 2022-2023 fiscal year.

North Perth council honoured the Listowel U13 LL 1 Cyclones for their International Silver Stick championship earlier in the 2022-23 minor hockey season, presenting the squad with municipal medallions during its regular meeting on April 24.

The council of the Municipality of North Perth marked the return of Volunteer Appreciation Night on Tuesday, April 18 for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event at the Elma Memorial Community Centre in Atwood saw a great turnout from the community.
WDCS students compete at Grade 5/6 girls tournament
The Walkerton District Community School Grade 5/6 girls’ basketball team had a great day at the Bluewater Tournament in Chesley. The girls played well as a team and were all quick learners. They improved throughout the day and were competitive in every game. They lost their second game by two points
Optimists host youth volleyball tournament
This past weekend, April 22 and 23, the Walkerton and District Optimist Club sponsored a youth grade 6-8 volleyball tournament. It ran both Saturday and Sunday and was organized by Mary Steffen, a teacher from ICS Formosa. It was a huge success and it seemed the youth enjoyed some extra time to play
Bruce County offering grants for non-profit organizations
Bruce County recognizes the role philanthropy plays in strengthening the community and that the benefits of such acts ultimately improve the quality of life for all residents. To support this recognition, the county has a community grant program that provides a mechanism for groups or organizations
