Construction on the latest addition to downtown Listowel – a parkette – is set to begin next month.

The early settlements of Bruce County had limited resources to carry them through hard times. For example, so precarious was the economy of Southampton in 1851 that the loss of a single boatload of supplies meant that the hamlet had to be partially abandoned so that the rest might eat.

This is No. 11 in a series of garden articles from the early 2000s about Walkerton Horticultural Society activities. The articles are being published in loving memory of longstanding society president, Nancy Bajurny who was always dedicated to beautifying our town.
