WINGHAM – Huron County OPP have laid numerous sexual assault and sexual exploitation charges against a youth ministry director from Wingham following an investigation by the OPP Crime Unit.
In a press release, police stated that the charges stem from alleged incidents that have taken place this year against a teen-aged victim.
Police did not state where the alleged incidents took place.
The accused, according to police, works as a youth ministry director for a church, as well as serves as a youth director for a faith-based youth program in Wingham.
Charged is 29-year-old Simon Chiarello of Wingham. He has been charged with seven counts of sexual assault and seven counts of sexual exploitation.
Chiarello was arrested on Sept. 10 by members of the East Algoma OPP detachment. He remains in custody with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
