West Grey driver charged in hit and run

MINTO – One person has been charged following an investigation into a crash involving a vehicle and a cyclist last October.

Wellington County OPP, along with the Guelph Wellington Paramedic Services and local fire departments, responded to the Oct. 11, 2022 crash around 8:30 a.m. It was determined that a cyclist had been struck by a vehicle, which did not remain at the scene, in the area of Wellington Road 2 and Regency Drive.

The cyclist, a 21-year-old from Clifford, was taken to a trauma centre by Air Ornge with serious injuries.

On Jan. 23, Wellington County OPP announced a 28-year-old West Grey resident has been charged with fail to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm, contrary to the Criminal Code, as well as Highway Traffic Act charges including careless driving causing bodily harm, fail to report accident, and fail to remain.
