LISTOWEL – Three people were taken to hospital after a collision north of Listowel this morning.

The crash occurred around 8 a.m. on Perth Line 164 (Highway 23) between Line 87 and Line 88. Perth County OPP, Perth County Paramedic Services, and the North Perth Fire Department responded to the incident.

Police say their investigation revealed a northbound vehicle – a passenger van – lost control and entered the southbound lane, striking a SUV head-on.

The driver of the van was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. One passenger of the van and the driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries. Five other occupants of the van were not injured.

Police say a third vehicle was damaged when it swerved to avoid the crash and entered the ditch.
