Stolen vehicle found destroyed by fire

HURON EAST – Huron County OPP continues to investigate a vehicle theft and subsequent arson that took place recently.

On Dec. 29, Huron OPP members received a call from a victim that reported her 2015 Ford Escape sport utility vehicle was stolen from her residence located on Winnipeg Road in
Vanastra.

The vehicle was taken sometime between 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 28 and 1 a.m. on Dec. 29. About an hour later police received a call about a burnt-out vehicle located at a nearby gravel pit. Officers attended the scene and confirmed the burnt-out vehicle was the same vehicle.

Huron County OPP reminds vehicle owners to always secure your vehicle and take the ignition key with you. Whenever possible park in a garage or a well-lit area.
