Santa Claus is coming to Howick

HOWICK – Organizer Verdun Zurbrigg invites you to come out to light up your night at the Howick drive-thru lighted Christmas parade at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19 at the Howick Community Centre.

Zurbrigg remarked that Santa wanted to make an appearance, wanted to see all the children and not miss out on Howick, so he booked his appearance early.

Businesses are encouraged to join in the fun by entering a float in the parade. The floats will be set on both sides of the parking lot with ample room to show all their seasonal splendour. Visitors will enter the parking lot, drive behind the arena, and drive through the middle with displays on either side.

Fire trucks, farm machinery, service clubs, organizations, church groups, any business, everyone is invited to set up a display. Sparky the fire dog should be around to greet everyone and maybe even Clifford, the red dog.

Santa will be waiting at the end of line to say, “Ho Ho Ho!” to the children and hope their Christmas wishes come true.

When Santa gets to town, he will be escorted to the Fordwich Nursing Home to greet the residents and staff who are always glad to see the jolly old elf himself.

Contact Marion Feldskov at feldskov@wightman.ca for further information on how to participate. With COVID-19 concerns and public health and safety still a top priority, this is a good social distancing way of seeing Santa.

Last year, dozens of people passed by for an hour and a half to see over 20 decorated floats and Santa.
