Police investigate arson at Hanover motel

HANOVER – On Friday, Dec. 15, at 6:35 p.m., Hanover police and fire department responded to a call at the Travellers Inn Motel on 7th Avenue.

Police say someone threw a “Molotov cocktail” at the rear entrance of the motel on the west side of the building, breaking the glass door and starting a fire.

Occupants of the motel were able to put out the fire prior to the arrival of emergency crews. There were no reported injuries, and only minor damage to the exterior and interior of the building.

Police say that after starting the fire, the person fled on foot along the south side of the building toward 7th Ave. Police say they believe several shoppers from Food Basics saw the person running from the area.

The Fire Marshall’s office is investigating.
