GODERICH – A Morris-Turnberry man is facing a criminal charge after he was stopped by police and refused to provide a roadside breath sample.

On Sunday, July 12 at approximately 7:11 p.m. Huron County OPP received a call from a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver that had just left a restaurant in Goderich.

Officers began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and approximately 10 minutes later officers had located and stopped the vehicle south of Goderich.

While speaking with the driver officers noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. Open alcohol was also observed inside the vehicle.  As such, a roadside screening test was demanded of the driver. The driver ultimately refused to provide a suitable roadside sample to the officer and was arrested as a result.

Charged is 22-year-old Curtis Raynard of Morris-Turnberry. He has been charged with fail or refuse to comply with demand.

He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for Oct. 5 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
