PJHL rules allows games to end in ties

EXETER — The former Southern Ontario Junior Hockey League (SOJHL) has changed to become the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL), but a name change isn’t the only thing different this season.

The point system for this year’s  hockey season has been changed in terms of how ties are handled. More specifically, this season it will be possible for games to end in a tie.

This season shootouts will no longer be used to break ties. Teams will get two points for a win and zero points for losing in overtime and, if a game goes to overtime, it will be for seven minutes. If no one scores then, each team gets one point a piece.

No games have ended in a tie since the start of the season.
