Palmerston man charged with assault; police seize stun gun

LISTOWEL – Perth County OPP have charged a 30-year-old Palmerston man after an alleged assault involving a ‘stun gun’ earlier this month in Listowel.

Perth County OPP were called to a parking lot on Barber Avenue North in Listowel just before 4 p.m. on Oct. 7.

Police say a person was threatened with a conducted energy weapon, more commonly known as a stun gun or taser. The stun gun was seized by police.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

The accused, 30-year-old Christopher Ouellette of Palmerston, has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose, and failure to comply with release order.

Ouellette was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
