FORDWICH – Fordwich Village Nursing Home is experiencing its second outbreak of the pandemic, after two staff members were confirmed to be positive for COVID-19.
The outbreak declaration was made on April 30 by Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH), and no further cases have been reported in either residents or other staff to date.
“We’re working closely with the facility to manage the outbreak and all measures are in place to protect staff and residents, and testing has taken place,” affirmed Dr. Miriam Klassen, HPPH medical officer of health on May 5.
Due to privacy concerns, HPPH cannot divulge vaccination specifics for individuals, but Dr. Klassen did say that Fordwich Village does have a 100 per cent vaccination rate for its residents. Eighty-five per cent of its staff have been vaccinated, with some yet to receive a second dosage.
The Fordwich long-term care facility also experienced an outbreak in January of this year.
