Pembroke

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wayne Woods at Marianhill Long Term Care Home on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, just shy of his 85th birthday.

Wayne was born in Wingham, Ontario to his parents Walter and Mary Woods (nee Inglis). He married Joyce Ardonna Moffat (also of Wingham), and they moved to Pembroke, Ontario.  He was the loving father to Shelley (Matthew) Maennling, Burlington; brother of Keith (late Karen), London; Lorna Martin (Alex), Appin; and Jane Raper (Bob), Wingham.  Dear grandfather of Marissa, Seana and Jessica Maennling, all of Burlington.

Wayne grew up on a farm.  He studied art at Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto and worked in the art departments of the television station and then Eddy Match Company Limited in Pembroke.  Community and family were important to Wayne; he was a member of the Petawawa Presbyterian Church, and the Masonic Lodge.  He had a special interest in antique cars and automotive memorabilia.  His giving spirit and sense of humor will be sadly missed by family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff who cared for Wayne at Marianhill, and friends and family for their support at this time.

Respecting Wayne’s wishes, cremation has taken place.   A visitation will be held at Malcolm, Deavitt and Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke, on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. For those who are unable to attend Wayne’s service, please register with this link to live stream the service: https://event.forgetmenotceremonies.com/ceremony?c=8a78f7ee-bfa2-40ef-9f7a-ad24514be7f4
