Shirley Bowman

Shirley Margaret (Robinson) Bowman passed away surrounded by love, at her home in Burlington on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the age of 82.

She now joins her beloved husband, Ken (Archie) Bowman, who she was married to for 37 wonderful years.

Shirley will be greatly missed by her children Kim (Peter) Browne of Tottenham, Craig of Stratford, and Kelly (Brad) Taylor of Waterdown.

She was a proud and loving Nana to Tyler, Regan, Brooke, Bailey, Sydney, and Jason, and GG to Grayson.

Shirley was the oldest of six and will be greatly missed by her siblings Ralph (Marlene) Robinson of Stratford, Ron (Lois) Robinson of Listowel, Joan Danbrook of Kitchener, Deb (Don) Strachan of Listowel, her sister-in-law Sue  Robinson of Fordwich, and by her many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her father Roy (1979), her mother Ruth Thompson (2018), her brother Jack (2025), and brother-in-law Doug Danbrook (2016).

Shirley was a woman of quiet strength whose life will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her enjoyment of helping others and her strength of character.  She enjoyed her sports and was an avid fan of curling, baseball, and golf.  Upon moving to Burlington, she picked the bowling ball back up and enjoyed many of her final years in league play with new friends.  Travel brought her great joy and she traveled to the shores of the Caribbean and cruised around the world.

Never one to be idle, Shirley spent many of her retirement years spending time with her children and grandchildren, volunteering at Joseph Brant Hospital, flipping pancakes at the Knox Waterdown Family Breakfast and baking her famous gumdrop cookies for Knox Waterdown church.

Shirley and her family are forever grateful to the staff at the dialysis unit at Joseph Brant Wellness Center, Dr. Koole and Dr. Lanktree for their outstanding care.

Shirley will be deeply missed and memories of her will be forever shared by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

Shirley’s extended family had a private celebration of life at Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel, on Monday, June 8, 2026 with interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.  Rev. James Clark officiated.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated by the family.
