Paul Hawkins

Paul Hawkins of Walkerton passed away suddenly, surrounded by his family, on Friday, August 7, 2026, at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton, at the age of 75.

Predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda (nee Devlin), Paul was a devoted father to Tammi (Andy) Girdler and Matt (April) Hawkins. He was a proud grandpa to Brett (Brittany), Natalie (Daniel), Ryan (Hannah), Adam (Michaela), Claudia (Keenan), and James, and a great-grandpa to Lennon and Myles.

Paul was a special brother to Dave, Tim (Janice), Pete (Patti), and Chris (Val), and a brother-in-law to John (Irene) Devlin and Ken (Nancy) Devlin.

Born July 2, 1951, in London, Paul’s early years were filled with fast cars, touring the local dances, playing sports, and enjoying a busy social life surrounded by friends and family. Dad always enjoyed a good time and had a great sense of humour.

Paul began working at Skips Service in Walkerton at a very young age. He went on to explore a few different career paths, including working at Douglas Point and alongside his brother Dave.

Eventually, Paul returned to Skips, which ultimately led to ownership. For 25 years, he was the proud owner, alongside his partner and friend, Bob Eckensweiler. Dad often spoke fondly of his years as a business owner, his customers, and, of course, the many laughs and stories he and Bob shared along the way.

In 2002, Mom and Dad purchased a cottage at Miller Lake. For the next 18 years, Dad enjoyed fishing and simply being on the water. He knew every little fishing hole from here to the Peninsula and loved nothing more than having family visit, especially the grandkids. Teaching them to fish, gathering around campfires, and simply enjoying time together and the slower pace of cottage life made Miller Lake his happy place.

Dad leaves behind a legacy of good values, hard work, kindness, a great sense of humour, and an appreciation for the simple things in life.

You worked so hard and never complained, always doing what you could to give us a better life. We will carry your love, lessons, stories, and memories with us always.

Paul was predeceased by his parents, Jeff and Lois Hawkins; his parents-in-law, Ben and Helen Devlin; and his brother-in-law, Bill Devlin.

A Celebration of Life for Paul will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Walkerton.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Walkerton and District Hospital Foundation or Saugeen Hospice would be appreciated by the family. Donations and condolences may be made online at www.cameronfuneralhomes.com.
