Norman (Norm) Young

Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Norman (Norm) Young on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton. Loving husband of Susan Ann Young, loving father of Susan Jane Young (Conrad) of Cambridge. Stepfather of Kerri Bailey of Cambridge, Derek (Rachel) Bailey of Walkerton, Dan (Julie) Bailey of St. George. Loving grandpa of Julia, Rebecca, Luke, Hayden, Haillie and Alea and great grandpa of Isabelle.

Survived by his brother Doug and wife Karen of Blenheim. Predeceased by his brother Don of B.C., and his mom and dad Gertrude and Theodore Young of St. George.

Norm grew up on a farm in St. George and was active in the farming community. He played ball and sang bass in several quartets and choirs. Moving to the Kitchener area, he worked as a salesman, a tour bus driver and city of Kitchener transit driver.

Norm’s love of animals led him and his wife Susan to become imvolved with dog rescue and Loyal Rescue. They adopted their little yorkie Peanut Sr. in 2010 and shortly after became foster parents for that rescue. Many dogs found love and support in their home and moved on to find loving forever homes. 85 puppy mill, abused or abandoned dogs eventually went through their home and onto happy lives.

Norm always said “if we manage to help someone along our life’s path, our living has not been in vain.” We would never be able to count the many, many people he has helped in various situations. He had a soft spot for the less fortunate.

Norm’s sense of humor and many funny stories will be missed by all. He loved life!

Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Norm’s life from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102 (505 Scott St., Walkerton)
