Our mother passed away peacefully at Knollcrest Lodge in Milverton on Friday, July 31, 2026 surrounded by the love and support of her family.
Predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years and our wonderful father, Gordon ‘Whitey’ Wilson (1999). Also predeceased by her parents Sam and Muriel Geoghegan, sister Joyce (Harold) Fullarton and mom’s twin brother Tom (Ray) Geoghegan.
Loving mother to her three children; Gary (Jeannie), Nancy (Peter Shaver) and Robert (Barb).
Treasured grandma to her grandchildren; Laura (Duane), David (Cassy), Kevin, Darren, Michael (Stephanie) and Krista (Leon), and great-grandma to Cadence, Wade, Emblyn, Bo, Nora and Otis.
Mom was born on a farm with no running water or electricity in Elma Township on January 9, 1926. What changes she has seen in her 100 years.
Up until her passing she was an avid reader and enjoyed staying in touch with family using her iPad.
Mom and Dad enjoyed a wonderful life in Listowel with their many friends, several since childhood, Elma St. and Maitland Terrace neighbours, golf buddies and Mom’s bridge ladies.
Their parties were legendary and always included making music and singing even though neither of them were particularly talented in those departments.
Mom was always great with numbers and worked at the Royal Bank in Stratford during the war. After she and Dad were married and ‘the kids’ were in high school, she worked in the accounting firm of Ward & Uptigrove and then moved to the branch of CIBC in Listowel. When computers were being introduced in the bank, Mom embraced the new technology while a number of her co-workers decided to retire instead of learning something new.
Mom was able to live independently until 3 days after her 100th birthday.
The family wishes to thank Mom’s friend, Marie Thompson for her many years of care and support for Mom. We would also like to thank the staff and administration at Knollcrest Lodge for their care during Mom’s last few months.
Mom maintained her positive outlook and laughter to the very end.
A private family service will be held with interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
