John Harold ‘Jack’ Nickel of Listowel passed away peacefully at Royal Terrace, Palmerston on Sunday, April 12, 2026, in his 86th year.
Husband of the late Patty (Boyne) Nickel.
Jack and Patty have three beautiful daughters: Jacqui & Josh Alexander, and Jennifer & Jeff Smith, all of Gowanstown, and Jodeyn Grills of Port Alberni, BC. Pappa of Jordan and Jillian Alexander, Jane, Jackson, Justin Smith, and Ethan and Noah Grills.
Brother of Thelma & Swain VanCamp of Waterloo, brother-in-law of Marion Dewbury, and remembered by his nieces and nephews; Scott VanCamp, Dean & Laurie Clarke, Barb & Erik Jensen, Deborah & Dominic Langley, and Mary Jane & Todd Blackport.
Predeceased by his parents, sister-in-law Mildred Clarke and her husband Bob, brother-in-law Fred Dewbury, and nieces Susan (VanCamp) DeMatteo and Sandra (VanCamp) Kozak.
Jack was born on July 8, 1940 in Palmerston to Harold & Cora (Hartman) Nickel. He married Patricia Lynn Boyne on September 20, 1968. They celebrated 51 years of marriage together before her death in 2020.
A private family service will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Friday, April 17, 2026 followed by a public Celebration of Jack’s life at the Kin Station from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Palmerston Hospital Foundation, Royal Terrace Residents’ Council, or Trinity United Church would be appreciated.
