After high school, Dorothy worked for Goudy’s in Kitchener and attended dances at the Britton Hall. This is where she met the love of her life Jim Barton. It was not long before the neighbours saw the Kitchener bus stopping at the Barton Farm. Dorothy and Jim were married October 17, 1949 and set up farming Lot 32 Concession 9 of Elma Township (Donegal). Dorothy was active with the Donegal UCW, Donegal Institute, and later years the Atwood Lioness. Dorothy always had a pie or a cookie and enjoyed visits from family and friends. In recent years, Dorothy resided at Livingston Manor where she flourished with the excellent care, friendship, and love that was provided to her.
