Passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026 at the age of 96, just two days shy of his 97th birthday.
Beloved husband of the late Agnes Livingstone (nee Wearring). Loving father of Ann (Aris) Janitens, David Livingstone, Neil Livingstone, and Owen Livingstone. Cherished grandfather of Lindsay (Nikhil), Erik (Laura), David Jr., and Mitch (Jessica). Proud great-grandfather of Tyler, Jaylen, Payton, Noah, Isaac, Jaxon, Leo, and Raffaella. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, especially Joan Waites.
David was predeceased by his parents Harry and Elsie, and his sister Grace Livingstone.
David grew up in Listowel, where he met Agnes in Grade 13. They both attended Teacher’s College and later taught in Toronto. After their marriage in 1953, they spent a year travelling in England, beginning a lifelong love of travel and adventure together. They raised their four children in Scarborough and later spent two years in Germany while David taught with DND, an experience that inspired a love of travel in the entire family. David especially treasured summers spent at the family cottage in Oliphant, where many wonderful memories were made over the years. He was a gifted storyteller, known for his warmth, humour, and love of family, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place, and a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
