Klaske ‘Carol’ (DeBoer) Wikkerink, of Listowel, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the age of 79.
Carol was predeceased by her husband Hendrik Willem ‘Bill’ Wikkerink.
Carol had been residing at Huronlea Retirement Home, Brussels, during her final two years. Born on June 2, 1946, in the village of Tzum in Waadhoeke, municipality in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands – the fourth child of five to her parents Richard and Wendy DeBoer. Siblings from eldest to youngest Carl (Wilma d.), Jane d. (Keith Devries d.), Jake (Angela), Susan (Martin Van Schubert).
The DeBoer Family emigrated to Canada by way of ship (The SS Volendam) in July of 1951, where they landed in lower Quebec and settled in Brussels, Ontario. On July 16, 1977, Bill and Carol were married in Richmond Hill and shortly thereafter settled on their farm, just West of Listowel Ontario, where they would live and farm for the next 47 years.
Carol integrated into the Wikkerink family earning the love of Bill’s very large family while remaining a very big part of the DeBoer legacy.
Carol is survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends and neighbors.
Carol will forever be remembered as a kind and gentle Christian woman, who held strong to her values and beliefs and touched so many of us. Along with that kind heart, was her love to laugh.
Visitation tooked place at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel, on Wednesday, June 3 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The funeral service was held at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Listowel, on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon and continued time of fellowship. The service was livestreamed and the link is available on the funeral home website.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
