Carol Elaine (Wright) Shelley of Wallace Township passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in her 92nd year.
Wife of the late Ronald Shelley.
Mother of Sandra-Lynn Shelley of Gorrie, Diane & John Scherer of Guelph, and Mr. & Mrs. Steven Shelley of Alberta.
Grandmother of Nicole.
Sister of Arlene Scott of Whitby and sister-in-law of Miriam Wright of Orillia, and Irene and Josh Atkinson of Alberta.
Also survived by her nieces and nephew.
Predeceased by her parents Robert and Evelyn Wright, her brothers Allan Wright and Ross Wright, her brother-in-law James Scott, and by her niece Karen Wright.
Carol was a graduate of the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital school of nursing, Class of 1955. She worked and enjoyed all avenues of nursing. She was a member of the Listowel Red hats and Howick Agriculture Society, and a canvasser for the Canadian Cancer Society. She was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Palmerston. Carol with her husband Ron raised their three children on their family farms first in Elgin County and then finally on their family farm in Wallace Township.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Care Partners nursing team, as well as the OneCare PSW’s for taking such great care of our mother.
The funeral service will be held from St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Palmerston on Saturday, July 25th at 1:30 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service. A recording of the service will be uploaded to the funeral home website.
Interment in Fordwich Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations to St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Palmerston or Palmerston & District Hospital would be appreciated, and may be made through the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston.
