Peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Thursday, July 23rd, 2026, Calvin Rowmayne “Rowe” Croskill formerly of Wingham passed away at the age of 95.
Devoted husband of the late Dorothy (Dunlop) Croskill who predeceased him in 1996. Loving father of Jeff & Lynda Croskill of Listowel and the late Jo-Ann Thompson (2017) and father-in-law of Dave Thompson of Bluevale. Grandfather of David Croskill, Julie Croskill & Mike Brohman, Lori Croskill & Joe Giles, Rob Anderson, Kyle Anderson and Janelle Anderson and great-grandfather of Callum, Aden, Alivia, Tyson and Kylie. Survived by sister Debbie Crosskill and sister-in-law & brother-in-law Grace and Bob Tipping and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Clifford & Alma (Howson) Crosskill, brothers Harvey Wallace and Gary Calvert, sister & brother-in-law Audrey & Bernard Charters, sister-in-law & brother-in law Jane & Ralph Lipsett and granddaughter-in-law Lisa Anderson.
Rowe was born in Heathcote, and married Dorothy in 1955. Rowe joined the Ontario Provincial Police in 1957 and served in Sudbury, Noelville, Guelph, Wingham, Glencoe and Mount Forest. After his retirement they moved back to Wingham and enjoyed several winters in the sunny south. Rowe loved to garden, travel and watch baseball, hockey and curling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his nieces and nephews. He moved into the Sugarbush community in Listowel in 2020 and as usual made many new friends.
A graveside service will be held at the Wingham Cemetery on Wednesday August 5th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiating. A Celebration of Rowe’s life will be held at the Listowel Kin Station on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026 from 1:30 – 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation or the Listowel Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
