LISTOWEL – Police have charged a North Perth man with assault following an incident on a walking path in Listowel on July 27.
Just after 10:30 p.m. on, the Perth County OPP were called to the walking trail between Queen St. E. and Elizabeth St. E.
The accused allegedly approached a group of youth that were walking on the path and threw a glass bottle on the ground in front of them. The bottle broke and a piece of glass struck the victim.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say that the victim and accused do not know each other.
The accused was found nearby and arrested.
The accused, 28-year-old David Ernest of North Perth, has been charged with assault with a weapon.
Ernest was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.
