CLINTON – A North Huron woman is facing impaired charges following a traffic stop in Clinton on May 20.
Huron County OPP say they spotted a vehicle with an expired license plate on Princess Street around 12:38 a.m. Officers followed the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
Police say the driver of the vehicle was showing signs of being impaired while talking with officers.
The driver was arrested and taken to the Exeter OPP detachment, where two breath samples were given to an intoxilyzer technician. Both samples, police say, came back over the legal limit.
The driver, 29-year-old Mellisa Bell from North Huron, has been charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.
Her vehicle was impounded and her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on Aug. 10 to answer to the charges.
