The Walkerton Capitals U11 OWHL squad had a successful tournament Dec. 9-11 in Mount Forest at the Megan Byers Memorial Tournament. Capitals drop weekend contests, head into pre-Christmas break
No games are scheduled for the Walkerton Capitals until Friday, Dec. 23, when they host Mitchell for a 7:30 p.m. game. After that, the Caps don’t play until after Christmas, when they visit Hanover on Friday, Dec. 30 for an 8 p.m. game.
Walkerton Food Bank receives $1,000 donation

Formosa Swans hold Christmas gathering
The Formosa Swans were welcomed to their Christmas gathering on Dec. 5 by President Mary Nichols. A short meeting saw the Swans discuss plans for the catering of the Municipality of South Bruce Christmas party. The Swans motioned to donate $300 to the Walkerton Food Bank.

Visions of Christmas toys from yesteryear
Our pioneering ancestors made do with home-made presents at Christmas. Mother could sew a rag doll for her daughter. Father might whittle a toy horse for his son. Then as families prospered they were able to buy gifts in the local general store, practical gifts like dishes, a new coat or boots.
