PALMERSTON – Wellington County OPP have charged a 28-year-old Minto resident after it was reported that they were kicking the side of a vehicle parked in front of a restaurant on Main St. in Palmerston.
Police said that they responded to the incident around 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 15.
According to police, the accused entered the restaurant and took keys from the table of a couple known to them and ran back outside. At that time, the owner of the vehicle blocked the driver’s door in an effort to prevent the vehicle from being stolen. At that point, police say, the accused began kicking the side of the car, creating three large dents.
Further investigation by police revealed that the accused was also involved in an incident earlier that morning where the same victim’s purse was stolen.
The accused, 28-year-old Calesha Lynn Lee of Minto, has been charged with mischief over $5,000 and theft under $5,000. They were held for a bail hearing due to failing to sign release documents.
