In January, the unemployment rate for the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula  Economic Region jumped to 5.8 per cent, also the biggest increase (2 percentage points) across Ontario, after sitting at one of the lowest in the province for months.

Council here held a public meeting during the recent regular council agenda on Feb. 4, outlining the third draft of Howick’s 2025 municipal budget.

An individual was charged with multiple criminal offences following a traffic complaint involving a snowmobile on Feb. 2.

Over the course of two meetings on Feb. 4 and 6, council here approved  draft 2025 capital and operating budgets in principle, after lengthy discussion and resulting caveats.

Earlier this month, the Wingham Ironmen started a difficult four-game road trip, falling 8-5  against the Flyers on Feb. 1, dropping a 7-3 decision to the league-leading Barons on Feb. 2 and, on Feb. 4, falling 3-1 to the third-place Fergus Whalers.
