Listowel teen facing numerous charges following investigation

LISTOWEL – A Listowel resident is facing numerous charges, including assault and theft, following his arrest on July 31.

At 6 p.m. that evening, Perth County OPP responded to a report of a person in a parking lot on Mitchell Road South in Listowel attempting to gain entry to vehicles and throwing items. Police say they received additional reports that the suspect was assaulting others in the area and attempted to steal a purse from a person in a business.

Police attended the area of Mitchell Road South and located the person identified by witnesses as the suspect.

The accused, 18-year-old Owen Sinclair of Listowel, was arrested and charged with assault, two counts of theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and mischief – obstructs, interrupts, interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
