Traveller pays it forward after local residents help out with tire change

Dear Editor:

Recently I found myself and grandson, Malcolm Schnurr at the side of the road on the Huron Bruce boundary. The sidewall of my rear tire had blown out and, as I was finding my CAA information, a Mennonite farmer came over from a nearby field and offered to fix the tire. He got the replacement out, which is under my truck box. I didn’t have a jack so he borrowed one from a neighbour, who is a classic/antique car owner.

We soon realized my lug nuts had been put on by an impact wrench (making them hard to remove). Miracle three, a young fellow came along and had an impact wrench as his father’s vehicle was also broke down with a flat 500 yards up from me.

No one accepted money and, as I was leaving, the farmer asked only two things from me: 1) Pay it forward; 2) return the jack to the neighbour (done!).

I am now paying this forward. Please accept this cheque and pay it forward to wherever it is needed.

Best regards, sincerely,

Catherine Wickwire,

Chatham
