Support the local Parkinson’s Society

To the editor and community,

Well, here we are again. It’s time to raise money for our local Parkinson’s Society in these trying times. It is a challenge, but I hope it’s doable.

Again this year, my sister, her children, and I have formed a team called We Will Walk You to support the Southwestern Ontario Parkinson’s Society, which supports our area. The Modified Parkinson’s Walk-It is on Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. at Hanover Park.

The support group my sister and I belong to is called South Grey Bruce Hanover and Area Parkinson Support Group. There are around 45 members whose ages range from their 50s all the way into their 80s. Around 12 years ago, when no one stepped up to organize the Walk-It to raise money in our area for our regional Parkinson Society for research, webinars, and support for those with Parkinson’s and their caregivers, this group decided to organize their own Walk-It. They are not computer savvy so most of them pound the pavement asking for sponsorship or pledges. COVID is making this more of a challenge for them.

Their goal is to find a cure if not in their lifetime then in their children’s and to help support needed programs and support in our area. COVID is now putting a damper on their efforts.

I would like to ask you to consider donating to this cause. All money stays in Southwestern Ontario. Please consider supporting our fight. No donation is too small.

You can donate online by going to http://events.parkinsonsociety.ca/goto/MichelleNapper.

Thank you,
