RE: Youth hurt by Political fallout, Oct. 15
In the midst of the pandemic our prime minister is struggling, not to gain a grip on this virus, but to contain the firestorm of his WE scandal.
This charity, so undeniably important to our Canadian youth, especially in times such as this, has come under a cloud of scandal due to our prime minster’s actions.
I don’t want to diminish the importance of local as well as other volunteers in this program. It is extremely important for helping our Canadian youth and students. As they looked forward to participating in the program and helping others. However, putting this on the back burner is not the solution.
While it is true students are not benefiting from the extension of this case, they don’t have to suffer from it either. The NDP have suggested that the CSSG be diverted to other student aid programs. This is positive solution that could undo some of the damage done by our prime minster.
Although the cost of the governments involvement with this charity is costing our Canadian youth that does not mean we should just let it go.
This most recent scandal on the part of our prime minister can’t help but remind Canadians of his previous scandals.
Back in 2018 he was in hot water over his ethics on his trip to India as well as the Bahamas. Last year he broke conflict of interest law after he repeatedly putting pressure on his former attorney general to reach a plea deal with an engineering firm. This scandal forced two cabinet ministers to step down but the prime minister himself remained unscathed, taking only a minor hit to his reputation.
Trudeau once promised that he would never close down the house of commons for a political scandal. In this recent case he has done just that. Under the pretense of COVID-19 safety, Trudeau is using this to avoid consequences, like a teenager who doesn’t come home to avoid punishment.
Letting the matter go is simply not an option.
As Canadians we need to hold our prime minister accountable for his actions. If we don’t he will continue to use our tax dollars and government programs for the personal gain of himself and his relatives.
