Never happened

Dear Editor:

I was amazed to see that the Ontario Stone Sand and Gravel Association seems to have rehabilitated a gravel pit with a community centre in Puslinch.

At least, that’s what they would have us believe, it looks like, in their promo in your Oct. 29 edition. Hey guys, it didn’t happen. There never was a gravel pit at the community centre grounds!

And to correct the misleading impression this puff piece gives, the Puslinch Community Centre was built through the efforts of service organizations, a huge volunteer effort and of course, some contributions to fund raising from the local gravel operations. It was not pit rehabilitation, as the “before” and “after” pictures would have us believe.

Seems to me the recent county moves to revise aggregate property taxes might have “big gravel” worried. They need to come up with something more believable to get my sympathy, if that was the intent of this ad.

Betty Andersen,
Puslinch
