Dear Editor; On behalf of the Members and the Executive of the Elora Business Improvement Area (BIA), I am delighted to inform everyone that the Elora Green Space, located at the corner of West Mill Street and Metcalfe St, is ready to be opened to the public! We invite everyone in Centre Wellington (and beyond) to join us at 7pm, Thursday, August 9th to hear our words of thanks & for a ceremonial ribbon cutting. The Elora Green Space is a co-operative effort between the Elora BIA, The Township of Centre Wellington and countless volunteers and benefactors to the cause. In the past few months, through the graciousness of so many people and organizations, the old service station land has been transformed into a leafy, mature, enjoyable space for everyone to use. It is our desire that it become a haven in the centre of town for all who wish to stop and enjoy a peaceful respite from a busy day, and to demonstrate to other communities Nation-wide that there is hope for lands in their community that are in a similar situation. With the space ready to open, we still have invoices to pay. Members of our fundraising committee will be in attendance that evening to accept donations in any amount. We accept cash or cheque for this purpose. If you care to donate $20 or more, we are pleased to inform you that through a special partnership with the Centre Wellington Community Foundation (www.cwcfoundation.ca), you will be mailed an income tax receipt. Donations to the cause can be made any time at the Elora Welcome Centre at 9 East Mill Street, always with that $20 or greater donation fully receipted and mailed to you for your income tax purposes. You can also donate on-line with a credit card (and get an instant income tax receipt) utilizing the Canada Helps link from the CWCF web site (be sure to mark your donation for the Elora Green Space Fund). Donations can be made from yourself or in memoriam of someone you love. There will be special recognition within the park in the near future to mark significant donations from individuals, organizations and businesses. We are extremely grateful for donations in any amount. A donation is not required to join us at the opening. Please circle your calendars! We hope to see lots of people out on the evening of the 9th to enjoy what has been done and to properly thank and celebrate those who have made this dream a reality! Sincerely, Fred Gordon, Administrator, Elora BIA. 519-846-2563
