J. M. McDonald Lumber donates $250,000 to BMGCC project

BRUSSELS – The Inspiring Our Future Campaign has received its largest support to date with a $250,000 donation to support the major renovations of the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre (BMGCC) from J. M. McDonald Lumber and the McDonald Family.

The planned renovations to the BMG Community Centre will bring the facility up to modern standards, provide something for people of all ages and interests, and revitalize the facility to be a hub for recreation the community can take pride in.
J. M. McDonald Lumber is a retail lumber and building supply dealer and is part of the Home Hardware network. Founded in 1929, they’ve been a mainstay in Brussels ever since. There have been five generations involved with the business.

For Michael, Jennifer and the rest of the McDonald team/family, this pledge was a natural choice. Both themselves and their children have grown up through the local minor sports system and they understand the importance that the BMGCC has on the Brussels community.
Inspiring Our Future Chair Brian TenPas, Deputy Chair Doug McArter and Campaign Coordinator Roxane Nicholson accepted the donation from Michael McDonald and Jennifer (McDonald) Hundt.

“The McDonald’s really stepped-up big time here,” said TenPas. “There was never a doubt that they would be big supporters of the project, but they have truly blown us away with this level of commitment. Hats off to the McDonald family, they have our heartfelt thanks and we really hope the local community supports them as they have supported this community.”

The Inspiring Our Future team is grateful to J. M. McDonald Lumber and all the local businesses that have pledged donations to the project.

Any donations made to the Inspiring Our Future campaign will benefit the expansion of the dressing rooms, creation of an unobstructed heated viewing area, new entrance and foyer, roof replacement and several other modernizations. Anyone interested in learning more about the project is encouraged to contact TenPas at 519-492-0214, Nicholson at roxane@jamienicholson.ca, or any member of the campaign team.
