HURON-PERTH – The Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) region will spend at least another week in the yellow zone.
The local health unit is not one of the three that will be moving to a different level of the province’s COVID-19 framework next weeks. This means the earliest the region could move is March 22.
Neighbouring Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health will remain at the red level, and Grey Bruce Health will remain at green.
Provincial officials say the framework changes, announced March 12, were made in consultation with the local medical officers of health and are based on the latest trends in public health indicators.
“While the data shows that Ontario’s vaccine rollout is helping to save lives, the next few months are critical,” said Dr. David Williams, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health.
“We all must remain vigilant and continue following public health advice and measures to prevent transmission, as variants of concern are continuing to become more prevalent throughout the province and threaten to undue all of the positive gains we have all worked so hard to achieve.”
