Grey Bruce OPP recover multiple stolen vehicles, two people arrested

GREY HIGHLANDSGrey Bruce OPP have arrested two people – one from West Grey, the other from South Bruce – and laid numerous charges after police recovered four stolen vehicles.

Police were dispatched to a business on Road 180 in Grey Highlands on Nov. 2 after two pick-up trucks were reported stolen.

The two trucks were stolen overnight. The suspects left a vehicle at the scene, which had been reported stolen from an address in Chatsworth on Nov. 1.

With the assistance of Dufferin County OPP, Wellington County OPP and Shelburne Police Service, officers were able to locate and arrest the suspects after they stole an additional vehicle from Dufferin County.

Charged are 27-year-old Ryan Fox of West Grey and 30-year-old Dearl Vessie of South Bruce.

Fox has been charged with:

  • possession of property obtained by crime (under $5,000), section 355(b) Criminal Code of Canada (CC);
  • three counts of theft of a motor vehicle, section 333.1 CC;
  • two counts of possession of property obtained by crime (over $5,000), section 355(a) CC;
  • possession of a Schedule 1 substance – methamphetamine, section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA); and
  • dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, section 320.13(1) CC.

Vessie has been charged with:

  • possession of property obtained by crime (under $5,000), section 355(b) CC;
  • three counts of theft of a motor vehicle, section 333.1 CC;
  • two counts of Possession of property obtained by crime (over $5,000), section 355(a) CC;
  • possession of a Schedule 1 substance – methamphetamine, section 4(1) CDSA; and
  • fail to comply with Probation Order, section 733.1(1) CC.

All four stolen vehicles involved have been recovered by police.

Both of the accused were held for a bail hearing in Owen Sound on Nov. 3.
